These knives are made with a cladding of dirty wrought iron and carbon steel (15n20) there’s a few reasons to‘be done this, one of which being that it adds a little more toughness to the cladding, increasing the wrought irons carbon content slightly. It makes for a lovely material to polish and is on the subtle side of Patternwelding.
All the bevels are stone finished and sharpened
The timber on the handle is pippy oak with bog oak ferrules
friction fit ash saya
There are a few small cosmetic imperfections in the damascus, please look at the photos closely as I’ve tried to include them in the images. Wrought iron contains impurities which are part of its charm these can sometimes come out a little and cause small imperfections in the material. The knives have made their way though rounds of hammering, welding, heat treatment and I have every confidence that these flaws won’t cause problems in everyday use. (Dishwashers or soaking the knife in a sink of water might cause problems so please don’t do that)
